35-yr-old farmer wins governorship candidate in Anambra State

A 35-year-old farmer, Franklyn Ndife, has emerged the governorship candidate on the platform of Independent Democrat in the Anambra State gubernatorial election scheduled for November 18, this year.
According to Punch, Ndife was elected unopposed by 243 delegates who took part in the primary election of the party conducted at its secretariat in Awka, the Anambra State capital, on Thursday.
The Chairman of Independent Democrat in Cross River State, who doubled as the party’s primary election chairman, Sunday Michael, announced Ndife the candidate of the party for the election.
The National Chairman of Independent Democrat, Chief Edozie Madu, charged the youth in the state to mobilise and ensure the party’s victory at the poll.
Michael stated that the party had the interest of youths and women at heart, saying it would choose a female deputy governor to further enhance the party’s chances of winning the election.
In his acceptance speech, Ndife said he had come to make a difference in the political landscape of the state.
“The old people have failed us. We can no longer continue with such retrogressive system. “The youth must take over the leadership of this state and make life better and meaningful,” he added.
Meanwhile, actor and son of iconic actor Yul Edochie emerged the governorship candidate of Democratic Peoples Congress in the forthcoming Anambra election.
The son of Pete Edochie- Yul was elected by a 140-man delegate of the party.
